JCPenney has launched its new Thereabouts private-label kids’ apparel collection. “Back-to-school essentials” such as basics, outerwear, sleepwear and shoes are included in the product line. Thereabouts products are made with very soft fabrics, and are inspired by the latest trends in kids’ fashion such as “sneaker dresses, head-to-toe color and prairie cool looks.”
American consumers spent more in department stores and less on cars and furniture last month, the Commerce Department announced, as the barometer that accounts for three-quarters of economic activity climbed 0.6 percent from a surprisingly weak May report. The government’s initial estimate of bolstered spending in June came out to about $621 billion.
